Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - kiss goes more slick sounding
Kiss made a great slicker sounding more pop hard rock disc with dynasty. It had alot of great songs but it was the wrong direction for the band in the long run. And it took them a while to see this. Of course going towards nonmelodic thrash music has basically shrunk metal down to nothing in listenership among people these days, but kiss was always about good melodic metal and if they were able to deliver that and maybe a few pop songs noone would have been unhappy. But the next disc continued the ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - KISS goes Disco Pop.
Okay, sure, there are some Rockin' tunes on this album, but there is definately no mistaking that strong Disco atmosphere that permeates throughout this album. I can remember back in 1979 when I initially heard the first track, I Was Made For Lovin' You. What the?! This isn't the KISS I know and loved! What happened? Over the years I have grown to appreciate the song, but back then, well, I didn't much care for it. I thought Paul should have put it on his solo album instead of a KISS album.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One star or two
A lot can happen in 50 minutes, try 50 years. Last night, that was just like old times. The hard times are dead and gone. Believing, it don't come easy, not for me. But the hard times have made me strong. Not older or wiser, just louder. The hard times have made me see that the hard times ain't where I wanna be. A lot can happen in 50 minutes, try 50 years. I don't wanna be there or even think back. Last night, the same damn night. I don't wanna be there, now I'm on the right track, yeah. It doesn't ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - a different side of kiss
I think this is a great album. Sounds like the time period in which is was recorded, which I don't see as a bad thing at all. Showed Kiss would keep up with times and change when needed, while keeping their signature sound.

Ace Frehley has some great stuff on this record, so fans of his should enjoy it.

Very similar to Unmasked, so if you like that one, you'll probably like this one too.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Solid KISS Effort with Thanks to Ace
Yeah, yeah, disco, selling out, getting too big. Let's use a little hindsight here. So, "I Was Made for Lovin' You" and "Sure Know Something" are disco. So what? The Stones did disco, too. It worked, and these songs do, too. Actually, these Paul Stanley tracks are more convincing than some of his harder rocking efforts.

Dynasty is a solid album from KISS. I first heard it when it came out thirty years ago; it was the first of the KISS reissues that I bought. I think of it as the ... Read More
